Birdwatching & Culture in Sicily

The position of Sicily makes it a natural paradise for birds.

Birdwatchers can observe numerous species here. The ornithological importance of the island is given by the exclusive permanent species of the island such as the partridge, the long-tailed tit, the tit bigia.

In Sicily there are many and varied nature reserves.

We will visit the Vendicari Nature Reserve, one of the most important wetlands in Sicily.

We will pass by the Cava Grande del Cassibile which is a natural reserve since 1984 of considerable naturalistic interest. We will also visit the Pantani di Longarini, the Biviere di Gela (one of the most important migration and resting areas for waterfowl), the Camarina necropolis and the Pantalica Reserve (a unique natural and archaeological reserve that will bring us back in time).

We will also appreciate the city of Noto which is UNESCO heritage for its baroque. We will sleep in lively Catania. Continuing on our tour we will visit the splendid Syracuse with its incredible Greek theater.

We will also arrive in Calatagirone, a city famous for its ceramics and Piazza Armerina with its villa Romana del Casale and its colorful mosaics. All these are just some of the cities and small villages that we will visit. These places are an expression of incredible beauty of the various civilizations that have influenced the island: Roman, Greek, Arabic and Byzantine.

And finally dinners in selected restaurants will certainly delight your palate with varied and rich menus. Also for lovers of sweets and ice cream there will be many surprises.
