History, Flora, Fauna and Landscapes in Sicily

History, Flora, Fauna and Landscapes in Sicily

Sicily boasts a history of ancient environmental transformations that has certainly deeply affected the original landscape.

Some of these transformations have helped to create a habitat of considerable importance for flora and fauna, such as the salt pans or the dwarf palm garrigues. Within the Zingaro Reserve, between a dip and the other in a very clear sea, we will observe the dwarf palms and numerous species of orchids.

Travelling south, we will reach Segesta with its Greek theatre, and then move to Erice with its medieval atmosphere. We will continue towards the ancient Phoenician-Punic colony of Mothia, to get to the famous Valley of the Temples which is still today the most important testimony of Greek civilization in Sicily.

After leaving Agrigento, we will go towards Selinunte with its temples and the Acropolis.

Moreover, around the archaeological park, the landscape is spectacular, with white beaches and crystal-clear sea.

Finally, we will end the tour by visiting the city of Palermo and its marvellous botanical garden.

Erice, Agrigento and Palermo are fascinating cities full of light and colour, full of stories and ancient traditions.

The Greek, Phoenician, Byzantine, Norman and Spanish populations have created in Sicily a unique and precious interweaving neither the flavours nor aromas of the recipes typical of the cuisine of these places.

For this purpose we will visit ancient Sicilian pastry shops and important wine cellars, where you can taste the various products.

Of course you cannot miss a taste of the Street food of Palermo with the famous Arancine and Panelle.
